Course Description
This course introduces the fundamentals of network security, security vulnerabilities, attack methods, and mitigation approaches. A comprehensive list of security issues related to networking design and development will be discussed. Topics include ethics in network security, basic cryptography, Firewalls, threats and security measures at different TCP/IP layers. SSH protocol, E-mail security, and Web security.
Course Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Define the critical characteristics of a Computer Network
- Apply sniffing and Spoofing Using Python.
- Understand different layers of TCP/IP protocol stack and apply TCP session hijacking attack
- Understand types of firewalls and build a simple firewall using Netfilter
- Understand DNS Hierarchy, Zones, and Servers and apply a denial-of-service attack on DNS servers
- Understand how TLS/SSL VPN work, setting up and testing a VPN
- Perform TLS Programming.
- Understand how Blockchain works, and apply mining in Blockchain
- Understand XSS attack and prevent XSS attack
